To legally work remote in Indonesia, the Remote Worker Visa (KITAS), is required. The Remote Worker Visa allows you to:
- open a bank account,
- obtain a driver’s license and buy car/motorbike,
- ability to lease land or property.
The visa is valid for up to 1 year, offering multiple entry privileges. This means you can leave and re-enter Indonesia. After one year, you must leave Indonesia. If you plan to return, you need to do an Exit Permit Only (EPO) and then get a new visa/KITAS. To obtain a Remote Worker Visa you have to prove income in the form of at least US$60,000 per year and an employment contract with a company outside Indonesia.
Requirements
1. Color copy of passport ID page
A scan of the ID page is required. Your passport should be valid for at least 18 months from the intended date of entry into Indonesia. Proper scan is recommended but if you take a photo instead, make sure all corners are visible and no fingers can be seen. All letters and numbers must be readable.
2. Passport photo/profile picture
At least 3.5 x 4.5 cm, 100KB, and 400x600px. You must face the camera directly, wear formal attire, and the background must be white or light-colored. You shouldn’t be positioned too far or too close to the camera. A selfie is accepted as long as the resolution is high and you are facing straight to the camera.
3. Personal Bank Statement of the past 3 months with a minimum USD 2000 balance
The bank statement must include the applicant’s name, a minimum of 3 months, and a closing balance of USD 2,000 or its equivalent in another currency.
4. Proof of annual salary/income of USD 60,000 (net) or equivalent in another currency
5. Employment contract with a company located outside the Indonesian Territory
6. Curriculum Vitae
This is not mandatory, only supporting. The CV should be similar to this example.
Procedure
1. Add the Digital Nomad Visa / Remote Work Visa for Indonesia to your shopping cart and proceed to checkout for payment.
2. After checkout, you will be redirected to a form where you can enter all relevant data for the Remote Worker Visa application and upload the required documents.
3. We will review your data and documents and respond to you via email or WhatsApp.
4. If everything is in order and we have received your visa fee payment, we will upload the data into the immigration system. If you have chosen bank transfer as your payment method, we will need a bank transfer receipt from you, as it may take some time for the funds to be credited to our account.
5. Once the Remote Worker Visa is completed, we will send it to you. You must enter Indonesia within 90 days of the E-Visa issue date.
