Visa Multiple Entry D

A Multiple Entry D Visa allows foreign nationals to enter and leave Indonesia multiple times during the validity period of the visa, without having to apply for a new visa each time they return to Indonesia.

It is important to understand that the visa validity period and permitted stay are two different things. Although the visa may remain valid for a certain period, the permitted stay is calculated separately for each entry.

For applicable D Visa categories, the permitted stay can be up to 60 days per entry. Therefore, if you wish to stay in Indonesia for approximately six months, the arrangement can be:

1st Entry → up to 60 days → Exit Indonesia → 2nd Entry → up to 60 days → Exit Indonesia → 3rd Entry → up to 60 days.

This can allow you to stay in Indonesia for approximately 180 days in total, but not continuously for 180 days under one entry.

Example

If you enter Indonesia on November 1:

  • November 1 – approximately December 30: First entry, up to 60 days
  • Exit Indonesia
  • Second entry: up to another 60 days
  • Exit Indonesia
  • Third entry: up to another 60 days

You may travel to another country during the exit period and then return to Indonesia, provided that your multiple-entry visa is still valid and you meet the applicable entry requirements.

A Multiple Entry Visa does not allow unlimited or continuous stay in Indonesia. You must ensure that you leave Indonesia before the permitted stay for each entry expires.

The visa category must also match the actual purpose of your activities in Indonesia. For example, D1 is generally for tourism, while D2 is for business activities. The appropriate D Visa category should therefore be selected based on your actual purpose of stay.

For someone who wants to stay in Indonesia for approximately six months and is comfortable leaving Indonesia every two months, a Multiple Entry D Visa can be a practical and flexible option compared with a single-entry visa requiring extensions.

If you are frequently visiting to Indonesia for business activities but usually don’t stay longer than a maximum of 60 days at a time, the D2 visa is the right option for you. The visa is totally valid for either 1 year, 2 years or 5 years. Within this period you are allowed to enter and leave Indonesia as often as you want.

In case you’d like to stay longer than 60 days during some visits, it’s possible to extend each visit for 60 days at a time up to a maximum of 180 days. For the extension, a personal visit at the Immigration office is required! You can apply for the extension here.
